Patua Painting Folk Art of West Bengal About years ago, the Patua Painters lived in villages of Patua art book. In those days, there were no movies, so these painters used to write stories, paint them and narrate to their friends and other villagers while unscrolling the paintings.
The common stories were about gods and goddesses and epics like Mahabharat and Ramayan. Different accounts explain their standing in the Indian caste system.
